A Message From Our Executive Leader
The St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust is dedicated to provide an outstanding Catholic Education to our pupils who shape our family of Academies. Our vision is rooted in the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and the mission of the Catholic Church.
We are faithful to guarantee our pupils receive not only exceptional teaching academically, but spiritually. We commit to ensure all our Academies are safe, nurturing hubs of inclusivity, kindness and equality, bestowing fantastic opportunities to not only our pupils, but their families and communities too. St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust will provide the tools for our pupils to carve their best possible futures.
The schools, their governors and the trust directors will work together keeping in mind the words of Gregory the Great:
‘The proof of love is in the works. Where love exists, it works great things. But when it ceases to act, it ceases to exist.’
As the Executive Lead of the Trust, I am in a privileged position, being able to help shape and embed the Trust’s vision, namely, to place Christ and the teaching of the Catholic Church at the centre of people’s lives.
Since the Trust was established much has been achieved, whilst much is still to be achieved. I have taught in Leeds for over twenty years. As an experienced Executive Headteacher and National Leader of Education I understand the importance of an excellent Catholic education. I think it is important to retain the individuality of the schools, that what works for one school does not necessarily work for another. However, there are many areas where consistency will help deliver excellence, particularly in financial practice and teaching and learning, and the continued goal for the Trust is to get the right blend of uniqueness and autonomy to ensure that St Gregory the Great is an outstanding Multi Academy Trust for all stakeholders.
There are currently nine schools in St Gregory the Great Trust, each one passionate about enabling every child to achieve their potential, all going that extra mile to ensure the best possible opportunities and experiences for all students.
For us, academic excellence is a given. But our schools are about so much more; offering broad and exciting experiences that really inspire the young people in our care.
This approach to learning requires exceptional people. We value everyone who works within our Trust and great schools have great leaders and great staff. Our team has educationalists and leaders who have proven track records and we are committed to learning from each other and believe that everyone has something to offer. We believe in developing and retaining our staff, across every level of the organisation.
This is an exciting time to be part of the Trust, and I am proud to work with such exceptional professionals to deliver on our promise of exceptional Catholic education to all the students in our care.
